So You Need a CBE. Now What?

For many small businesses, having a Certified Business Enterprise (CBE), also called a CBE certification, can be extremely helpful. Your CBE allows you to receive preferred procurement and contracting opportunities within the District.

The good news is that you can get CBE certified using your office at FOS. All three of our current locations are approved for CBE certifications.

But FOS doesn’t have a CBE, is that a problem for me?

Flex Office itself isn’t CBE certified because the certification wouldn’t be helpful to our business model. The rules prevent us from letting your business use a CBE certification that we acquired for FOS. Each business must apply for its own CBE in order to be eligible for the benefits.

How can we help you?

In order to apply for your business’ CBE, you must have a private office with a door. That office must also be in an approved location. When you rent a private office at a Flex Office, you can use our certificate of occupancy to apply for your own CBE.

Where do I start?

First, you’ll need to watch the Certified Business Enterprise (CBE) Program Webinar. It takes about 60 minutes to complete. You will be tested on the information in the webinar and will need to get a score of 80% or higher in order to pass.

Once you’ve passed the test, there will be a list of documents you’ll need to supply.

How long does it take?

Once you submit your application and required materials, it can take up to 45 days to get your CBE certification. There is no way to expedite your application, so make sure you allow enough time.
